DESIGN

Alila Manggis Bali Resort combines contemporary architecture features with traditional Balinese design to form an exemplary symbiosis. World-renowned architectural firm Kerry Hill’s interplay of light, water, plants and geometry result in details which never fail to excite the eye.

At Alila Manggis Bali Resort the four 2-storey buildings are built around a palm-fringed pool which looks onto the ocean, and are designed to maximize views of the coconut grove, swimming pool, beach and lotus gardens which surround the hotel. All of Alila Manggis Bali Resort function are artfully combined to create warm and modern amenities blends in harmony with natural surroundings.

GUEST ROOMS

The 56 rooms and two corner suites of Alila Manggis Bali Resort are housed in traditional two-storey thatched Balinese pavillions reminiscent of the village wantilan or meeting hall. All guestrooms are housed within four double storey buildings with traditional Balinese roof. The buildings are designed to maximize views of the coconut grove, swimming pool, beach and lotus gardens which surround the hotel.

All interiors are designed with warm yellow and turquoise fabrics and finishings to reflect the sun, sand and sea. The Superior Rooms, located on the ground floor of each block, boast a private terrace while the Deluxe Rooms on the upper level have a balcony with day bed. The 2 spacious suites are located at the upper level and corner of the building closest to the beach. Large balconies surround the suites to allow for outdoor dining, entertaining, lounging or as a sundeck. The room are furnished with a living area and large entry hall which may be used as a dining area. The bathroom includes bathtub, separate shower and dressing room.

FACILITIES

Swimming Pool
Alila Manggis' swimming pool is a central feature of the resort and is designed as an unusual inverted pyramid. This creates shallow waters around the edges and deep water in the middle. Water Sports

The resort also has its own Balinese outrigger that can take guests from the beach in front of the hotel to the Blue Lagoon, a beautiful and colorful reef teeming with marine life. East Bali has the most spectacular dive sites on the island, and all are located close to Alila Manggis. Diving and fishing trips can be arranged through the hotel.

Trekking
Two- to six- hour treks are available at The Alila Manggis in the company of knowledgeable local hotel guides. Trips include a trek to Gumang Hill for stunning views of verdant rice terraces and Mount Agung; Kastala to Tenganan, a trek off the beaten track through rice terraces and small farms to the Bali Aga village of Tenganan, famous for its double ikat weaving and unique basket-making; and the Mount Agung trek for the truly adventurous, a four-hour climb reaching the top in time for sunrise.

Mountain Biking
Mountain bikes are available for hire at the hotel along with maps of suggested routes through the spectacular scenery and villages.

DINING

Set in a traditional Balinese pavilion on a lotus pond, The Restaurant serves both a contemporary menu of signature dishes and a collection of Indonesian and Balinese favorites. The Restaurant’s elegant and relaxed setting overlooks the resort’s beautifully landscaped grounds and the ocean. Poolside and garden dining is available at Alila Manggis. Cooking School

Alila Manggis’ Cooking School is a unique course conducted over a period of five days. It focuses on Indonesian but essentially Balinese food. The format for the school is such that participants spend half the day in the kitchen and the other half exploring Bali from a culinary and cultural point of view.

Participants learn how to make sambal, classic satay, Balinese fish dishes, curries and traditional sweets. Alila Manggis’ Cooking School offers three programs of half-day, two days or five days duration.
