The Canang Sari Estate

The Canang Sari Estate is a unique private hilltop retreat with commanding panoramic views of the ocean and southern Bali. On clear days, you can see as far as the mountains, including the volcanoes Batukaru, Batur and Bali’s highest and most sacred mountain, Gunung Agung.

There are three two-bedroom villas and one four-bedroom villa, each one set into the hillside, guaranteeing unobstructed views while still ensuring personal privacy. They are all linked by decorative pathways so, for larger groups who may wish to have more than one villa, a combined booking presents no difficulty. Your companions can be easily accessible but out of sight!

The surrounding area is still relatively undeveloped with an abundance of wildlife, including many species of birds, such as the rare and endangered Indonesian Eagle. For the more adventurous, there are many footpaths through the hills that allow you to explore nearby villages and the beach is only 1 kilometer (4 minutes drive) away. Along this stretch of coast you can find idyllic hidden white sand beaches that still remain relatively undiscovered, accessible only to a few locals and expatriates who are ‘in the know’ and which are great for surfers and non-surfers alike. The surf breaks of Bingin, Impossible, Balangan, Padang-Padang and Uluwatu are all close by and within easy reach but still well away from the tourist beaches.

THE VILLAS

There are many similarities between the four villas and this is particularly noticeable in the use of local materials; tropical hardwoods, local stone and ceramics are skillfully combined to create modern functional design and decorative focal points.

All the villas have been stylishly furnished by a leading European designer and contain almost every modern western-style convenience you could possibly imagine, including many that even expensive hotel suites do not provide. For example, every kitchen has a hot and cold drinking water dispenser, a juice extractor, blender, coffee filter machine, electric toaster oven, a large fridge/freezer and full sized gas cooker with oven. Two of the villas also have a microwave oven.

Care has been taken to ensure that you retain the feeling of being in Bali. Decorating the villas with Balinese art and tasteful artifacts from around the archipelago is one of the ways this is achieved.

All bedrooms are fitted with air-conditioning which you will probably not need to use because Canang Sari Estate has the year-round benefit of refreshing breezes, making it cool enough at night to sleep comfortably or maybe just to relax and enjoy some music or a film as every bedroom is supplied with a VCD/CD player and television set.

The large beds, surrounded by swathes of fine white netting, are exceptionally comfortable and fitted with richly coloured sheets and pillows of superior quality. The comfort, the silence and the coolness guarantee that you will easily drift off into a peaceful and luxuriously relaxing night’s sleep and awake refreshed and rejuvenated.

Each villa has a large, sumptuously well-appointed sitting room and, for those who take the office on holiday with them, a beautifully designed desk close to sockets for internet and fax connections. There are telephones everywhere including the bathrooms so you will never need to feel isolated from the outside world unless you personally make the choice to disconnect the lines.

Each villa also has its own private swimming pool, exclusively for your personal use which is equipped with a salt chlorination plant. Salt water is kinder on the skin and does not cause irritation as do chemically treated pools. The shapes and sizes vary and every pool is tiled with exquisite turquoise stone especially imported from the neighbouring island of Java.
